A BRIMI Community Program for Inner Beauty & Emotional Growth

Program Description

The Story and Heart Series is a heart-centered community program that helps children ages 5–10 explore the power of inner beauty through storytelling, conversation, and creativity. Using the relatable world of Skyy and Brimielle, this program offers a safe, supportive space—outside of the classroom—where children can reflect, express themselves, and feel seen.

We are not teachers. We are caring community leaders who show up with stories, smiles, and support—inviting kids to think about how their hearts shape the way they see themselves and treat others.

How the Skyy and Brimielle Series Supports Self-Worth in Children

The Skyy and Brimielle series is more than a collection of heartwarming stories — it's a mirror for children to see their value reflected back at them. Each book gently teaches inner beauty traits (like kindness, compassion, resilience, and empathy), which are not just character lessons — they are direct building blocks of self-worth.

Here’s how:

1. Reinforces the Message: “Who You Are Is Enough”

By seeing Skyy and Brimielle celebrated not for how they look or what they have, but for how they treat others, children learn that their value comes from within. This consistent theme helps kids begin to define self-worth by their actions, intentions, and character — not by external approval.

2. Validates Feelings & Experiences

The series doesn’t shy away from real emotions — whether it’s feeling excluded, making mistakes, or standing up for someone else. When children see characters facing and overcoming emotional moments, they feel seen. That validation builds emotional confidence, a core part of self-worth.

3. Models Supportive Friendships

Skyy and Brimielle lift each other up, speak kindly, and include others. These healthy friendship dynamics help children learn how to seek and be part of positive relationships — a key element of building self-esteem and setting healthy emotional boundaries.

4. Invites Reflection through Story

The stories are written to spark reflection, especially when paired with discussion guides or journal prompts. Reflecting on kindness, gratitude, and empathy encourages children to see the good in themselves — reinforcing self-worth in a gentle, developmentally appropriate way.

5. Represents Diversity and Individuality

The series features African American girls as joyful, kind, thoughtful leads. For children of color—who are often underrepresented in children’s literature—this visibility can be life-changing. It affirms: “I belong in stories. I am important. I matter.”
